Mountain temples

A couple of days ago Pieter drove us to a mountainous region right outside of Lopburi to check out some temples.  The first one was very intricate and beautiful.

This area was inside the actual mountain itself

It is tradition in Thai culture for every man to become a Buddhist monk at a temple for at least 3 months during his lifetime.
Thai monks are very friendly, and stray dogs tend to hang out at temples because the monks feed them.
The second temple we visited was even more a part of the mountain it was built upon.

Another temple dog

In the glass box is a mummified body of a very revered monk with gold leaf all over him.

Where building meets mountain

BAT CAVE

Shrine inside the bat cave.  This area was a little stinky.
Then we headed to a nearby lake to eat, swim, and discuss Thai culture and teaching.

You rent a hut and table for 7 Baht.  Good deal.

Tuk tuk plaything.
