Kanchanaburi part II

07.28.2012

No rest for the wicked!  Right after our time with the ele's we set off to check out a local waterfall, and then the Death Railway.

Mini cave next to the waterfall

Chad and Kate are just sorting out some issues.

With flash

Water drips eating away at the rock

Back on the songtel

Standing on the back is the best part!

Still not sure what these are exactly and haven't yet brought myself to buy any.

Walking along the tracks.  We did not have to do any train dodging, although Brandon kept a good eye out for places to jump to should one happen to come along.  We read the trains stop at 4pm and the information was fortunately correct!

Found a little cave shrine on an offshoot of the railway

A common religious practice in Thailand is, after praying, to shake a cylindrical can of sticks, each with a number on them.  The first stick that falls out onto the floor will have your fortune.  You read the number on your stick, and then look at a wall of fortunes that each have a numerical association.  I got the number 5 and here's my apparent fortune.

End of the cave.  Don't breathe in too deeply here!

Chugga chugga chugga chugga w00t w00t!

Putting a little life back in the Death Railway.

I particularly liked this exhibit.

Kate obviously can't handle the Lisa sandwich.

Bridge over the river Kwai -- location of a book and a movie by the same title.

We all look ready for the rainbow train!

This fabulous ol' girl took us across the bridge and back for a mere 20 baht.

Lisa couldn't seem to get the timing of opening her eyes for pictures that entire weekend.

Distracted by hair bow.

Getting the songtel back to the bus station

I had fun doodling on the DS (borrowed from our housie) on the long bus ride back home.  Can you guess who I drew?

I must have been hungry...
