Home: Nakhon Pathom

After some confusion, it turns out we will be living and teaching in Nakhon Pathom of the Nakhom Pathom Province.  We weren't so excited about another sudden change of plans (we're starting to learn that this might just be how Thailand works), but now that we're here and settled I feel great.

These are decals on the van we took from Lopburi to Nakhom Pathom.  I'd love to get one for my minivan back home!

We looked at two different apartments and decided to go for the bigger one.  It's pretty bad ass, really.  It's one large furnished room and an attached bathroom which is also quite spacious.

Thai mattresses are about as soft as granite.  We'll get used to it :D

I love the mini kitchen!
No separation between shower area and toilet area

Amenities!

"Pantry"
This sandwich griller thing is awesome!  This might have to come back with us.

Insert virgin bread with contents

Few minutes later... some serious NOMS

We get the SYFY channel in English!!!11!!!!1!
Common area outside our front door

View from the common area to our street

Scooter taxis are really fun and we managed to take a whole grocery load to the apartment on two mopeds.  Sorry Mom, they didn't have extra helmets for us!

Within the past few days we have done some decent exploring of town:

Fellow teacher, Kathleen, with friends (Eddie, and Mos) we made at a bar just a short walk down our street.

They decided to get up and do some karaoke...

Mos was pretty good.  Eddie was mao ma maaa...

The next night we crammed 3 of us falang on Kathleen's moped (Thais really enjoyed seeing that!) and went to the night market at the Chedi.

Like Buddhist Disneyland!

Delicious fried quail eggs!!!

The bug stand

Kathleen decided she wanted the big grasshoppers

CRUNCHY

Brandon almost ate it on his ice cream!

... but decided against it.

Mine had a funny leg :D

Some other shots:

Residential street

A van that I coveted

Giant Mallard?  Not sure about this one.

Picked up a newspaper and this was on the front page!  I might be more interested in how the Chargers are doing now that I live so far away.  Funny how that works.

Manhole cover is despondent.
